One of the things that I have found to cause procrastination in aspiring VAs is a genuine lack of confidence. Most aspiring VAs will say they haven’t started their business yet because:

  1. I don’t know where to start.
  2. I don’t know everything a VA should know, or I need some form or certification.
  3. I don’t have a website.

These are all real reasons that can keep you stuck. They all speak of a genuine lack of confidence, lack of confidence in yourself, knowledge/abilities, and your marketing skills.

But the truth is:

If you don’t know where to start – start by researching. Increase your knowledge. Learn about the VA industry as much as you can. There’s a lot of information online.

You don’t need any certifications to be a virtual assistant. Yes! You can breathe a sigh of relief :). But know that it will always be a learning journey. No one ever arrives. We are all learning; your clients will always be learning, and so will you. As long as you have a growth mindset and a willingness to learn, you will be fine.

You don’t have to have a website when you get started. However, if you want one, go ahead and create one, but don’t let it be why you haven’t started your business yet.

I had my VA business running for five years without a website, so I know it’s not a prerequisite.

If money is tight or you are unsure about the specific services you will offer (and trust me, these will change over time), you can create an electronic flyer or FB page to direct your clients.

If you choose to create a website, make sure that you have a marketing strategy to drive traffic to your site. Otherwise, it will be pointless to have the website if that’s your strategy for getting clients.

Through my Fast Track To Clients Coaching Program, I help aspiring VAs gain the confidence they need to launch their VA businesses.
